The Burj Al Arab
Construction on the Burj Al Arab in Dubai began in 1994 and was modeled after the sail of a famous Arabian ship. The appearance was created by using teflon-coated fiberglass and white materials that resemble a mast when viewed from a distance. The hotel is an architectural masterpiece. The foundation was constructed on an artificial island and the hotel is home to the world’s tallest atrium. While the Burj Al Arab likes to believe it is the world’s only seven-star hotel, it is officially known as a five-star deluxe hotel on the standard star system.

Morgan Plaza
The Morgan Plaza, also known as a seven-star luxury hotel, is still under construction is Beijing, China but it is anticipated that construction will be complete in March of 2008. The hotel itself will be situated in the Morgan Plaza and will be one of many various buildings in the bustling district of Changan. The hotel will be situated near a myriad of national landmarks. It is hoped that the hotel, a pivotal building in the plaza long with pavilions, a temple, and a famous restaurant, will be completed before the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008. China stands to benefit greatly from increased tourism due to both the Olympics and the appeal of the new plaza itself.

The Flower of the East
Located on Kish Island in Iran, the began construction in 2004 and officials hope to see it reach completion by the year 2010. The hotel is the centerpiece of a complex development project which will include a number of hotels, residential condos, and businesses. The Flower of the East hotel is designed to look exactly as it sounds – like a flower. Designed with a combination of Persian and Modern architectural influences, the seven-star hotel will be surrounded by a beautiful park and will be visible from every area of the development.

The Centaurus
will be a seven-star hotel located in The Centaurus development project upon its completion, projected to be in 2010. Officials in Pakistan hope that the entire plaza will serve as a symbol of both the country’s personal and international growth. The hotel itself will be 37 stories tall.

The Pentominium - Defined Height of Luxury
In Dubai, is better known as an apartment building as opposed to a hotel. Even still, once it is complete the building will be the second tallest building dedicated to residential living in the world.
The project broke ground in 2007 and the anticipated date of completion will be in the year 2011. The complex will aim to provide luxury amenities, much like a hotel, including butler service, the use of luxury vehicles, and sailing trips.

10. Flexible Displays to be a reality by 2010 or 2011
For years, researchers have worked on thin, paperlike displays that can be folded, rolled or sewn into the sleeve of your hoodie.

Flexible displays could change the way we interact with the info-universe, creating new kinds of cellphones, portable computers, e-newspapers and electronic books.

9. Edible Chips
Soon, tiny edible chips will track when patients take their pills (or don’t) and monitor the effects of the drugs they’re taking. Proteus, a Redwood City, California, company, has created tiny chips out of silicon grains that, once swallowed, activate in the stomach.
The chips send a signal to an external patch that monitors vital parameters such as heart rate, temperature, state of wakefulness or body angle.

8. Speedo LZR

7. Flash Memory
Flash memory is a mainstay of most consumer electronics products, from ultralight notebooks to digital cameras and media players.

6. GPS
This year, the Global Positioning System (GPS) has been used in many new technologies, from the iPhone 3G and the T-Mobile G1 to notebooks such as Fujitsu’s LifeBook series.

5. The Memristor
The discovery of the “memristor,” or memory transistor will make it possible to develop computer systems that remember what’s stored in memory when they are turned off.
That means computers that don’t need to be booted up and systems that are far more energy efficient than the current crop.

4. Video-Capable SLRs

This year, two new cameras, the Nikon D90 and the Canon 5D Mark II not only capture top-notch still images, but let the photographer shoot high-definition videos as well.

3. USB 3.0
USB 3.0 will be 10 times faster than the current USB 2.0 standard, and will increase the amount of electrical current that can be delivered through a USB cable.

The T-Mobile HTC G1 phone scores with its operating system, Android, the free mobile operating system from Google. It’s the first mobile OS to make its debut in years and the G1 is just the first of what will be many phones that use it.

iBite Sports Car Concept with Ocean as The Inspiration

The new car concept design by Iman Maghsoudi for Local Motors Competition is named as iBite and as the name suggests it sure bites some metal. The overall design as per the designers is nothing but improvising on the Toyota Prius Hybrid platform as the base and just developing the same along with other beauties thus resulting in a designer marvel. After using that as the base platform, add to it the design elements of Lotus 7 and then on top of it placing two surfing boards as the part of its body panel and voila, one can see that the car is ready to fly!

Roofus, Snow Mowing Robot with Remote Controls

Its winters and it’s that time when all the pathways are clogged with snow, and one needs to clear the same to make way. The new snow mowing robot called Roofus seems to be a welcome change as this small monster can do work equivalent to 25 workers. Apart from this it also comes with other extensions which can be used for other activities like land mowing, plow ending, road cleaning etc. So with so many options available it is surely a good all purpose tool which also comes with remote controls as it gives you power at your finger tips!

Classy Black Tima Watch Design Concept

The new watch design by French designer Julien Bergignant is a nice concept which sure is second name of convenience. The watch made from electronic paper, is called Tima watch and can simultaneously display both digital as well as analog time. The good part is that the watch can show two different time zones together though the display is simultaneous. Looks wise too, the watch comes quite chic as the color chosen being black which of course by all means has a very rich and classy look. Thus, one can say that the designer has hit the right chord by creating this design.
